THINGS TO DO

 

Although the cabin is a great destination for a quiet getaway, there is also plenty to do in the area.  In fact, if you want to get out and about, you will find that there is more to do than you will have time for!  The beauty of the area is unmatched and offers its visitors ample opportunities for outdoor adventure .  Outside magazine ranked Buena Vista as the 2014 Travel Awards second best mountain trip destination in the world! 

 

Summer Activities

 

Buena Vista is home to the headwaters of the Arkansas River, providing world class white water rafting and fly fishing.  It also hosts the largest concentration of Fourteeners (mountains over 14,000 feet) in North America, offering spectacular scenery and nearly every outdoor activity imaginable.  Listed below are some of the area attractions (click here for more specific information):

 

  • Hiking and biking (trail information is at the cabin)

  • Whitewater rafting and kyacking

  • ATV and Jeep rentals (our cabin is 1/3 mile from forest road entrance into San Isabel National Forest, a haven for ATVers!)

  • Fly fishing (there many points for public access along the Arkansas River)

  • Horseback riding and hot air baloon rides

  • golf 

  • soaking in hot springs (surrounded by majestic mountain views)

  • scenic drives

  • ghost towns

  • zip lines across mountain canyons

 

 

 

 

Fall and Winter Activities

 

If you are looking for outdoor activity, there is much to do year round in the Buena Vista area.  Listed below are some of the outdoor opportunities available to you (click here for more specific information):

  • downhill skiing (Monarch Mountain and Breckenridge are 45 minutes from cabin)

  • snowmobiling

  • horseback riding, hay rides, and sleigh rides

  • snowshoeing

  • cross country skiing

There are lots of board games, cards, books, and movies available if you are interested in a quiet, tucked in mountain getaway.
