Q. Where is the cabin located?
A. We are 15 minutes northeast of the town of Buena Vista, 2 miles off the junction of 285 and 24. We are 2 hours from Denver and 1 1/2 hours from Colorado Springs. The cabin is an easy drive from both. More specific directions will be sent to you at the time of reservation.
Q. Is there a host on site?
A. No, the cabin is completely yours during your stay.
Q. Is food provided?
A. Although we have a fully stocked kitchen, we do not provide food during your visit. There are a few excellent caterers in the area, if you are interested in having food delivered to you. There are also many wonderful restaurants to choose from in Buena Vista. Contact us for more information or recommendations.
Q. Do I need to clean when I leave?
A. No. We do ask, however, that you strip the beds and remove garbage to a designated area before you leave.
Q. What do I need to bring?
A. Bring your own food and toiletries. Towels and linens are provided.
Q. What time is check in and check out?
A. Check in is at 4:00 and check out is at noon. We can be flexible with that if no one is staying in the cabin the day before.
Q. What is the weather like?
A. Beautiful! Colorado boasts over 300 days of sun a year. The cabin is at 9500 feet so summer temperatures average in the upper 70's to low 80's. Winters are generally mild, with lots of snow.
Q. Is the cabin accessible if there is a lot of snow?
A. The county does an excellent job of maintaining the roads during snowfall. Arrangements have been made to have the driveway plowed regularly. We do not anticipate having to cancel your reservation because of snow.
Q. Is there a grocery store nearby?
A. City Market is a full grocery store only 15 minutes away in the town of Buena Vista. If you are coming from Denver, we would recommend stopping at King Sooper in Conifer on your way out.
Q. Is smoking allowed?
A. No.
Q. Are pets allowed?
A. Yes, but they must be well behaved and be approved.
Q. How many people can the cabin accommodate?
A. We can comfortably accommodate 10. We have allowed for each person to have their own bed from September - May.
Q. Do you have cell phone coverage? A. Cell phone coverage is hit or miss, depending on your provider. We do, however, have a land line with free long distance.
